First Week of School: Resetting Intention, Strengthening Values - IISSA Seksyen 19

30 Jan 2026, BY Integrated Islamic School Shah Alam - IISSA

The first week of the new school term, held from 12th to 16th January 2026, marked an important beginning for our students. More than just returning to classrooms, this week was thoughtfully designed to help students reset their intentions, realign their mindset, and prepare themselves spiritually, emotionally, and academically for the year ahead.

Throughout the week, students participated in a series of meaningful activities aimed at nurturing strong values, discipline, and responsibility.

Understanding IISSA Core Values (RASUL)

Students were introduced to the IISSA core values (RASUL), which serve as the foundation of character development in our school. Through discussions and reflections, students gained a clearer understanding of how these values guide their behaviour, learning attitude, and daily interactions.

Adab of Seeking Knowledge

Special emphasis was placed on the adab (manners) of seeking knowledge, reminding students that learning is not only about academic success, but also about humility, sincerity, and respect. Students were guided on how intention plays a vital role in making knowledge beneficial.

Classroom Rules and Adab with Teachers and Friends

To create a positive and harmonious learning environment, students were briefed on classroom rules as well as proper adab towards teachers and peers. These sessions encouraged mutual respect, cooperation, and responsibility within the school community.

Duty Roster and Cleanliness in Islam

Students learned the importance of cleanliness as part of faith through the introduction of the duty roster system. This activity helped instil teamwork, accountability, and an understanding that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility.

Caring for School Belongings

Students were reminded to take care of school property, fostering a sense of amanah (trust) and gratitude for the facilities provided. This lesson reinforced respect for shared resources and mindful usage.

Lessons for the Year Ahead

Key lessons were highlighted as guidance for students to carry throughout the year—covering discipline, consistency, good intentions, and personal growth both inside and outside the classroom.

Extra-Curricular Activities Demonstration

The week concluded with a demonstration of extra-curricular activities, giving students exposure to various programmes available at the school. This allowed them to explore their interests, talents, and opportunities for holistic development.
